Project Director, Austrian Academy of Sciences, Institute for Social Anthropology
Maria-Katharina Lang is a researcher and project director at the Institute of Social Anthropology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Since 2018 she is Cultural Envoy of Mongolia in Austria. Recently she directed the projects Mongolian Ethnographica from the Austrian Collector Hans Leder in European Museums (forMuse; 2010-2012) and NOMADIC ARTEFACTS (WWTF; 2013-2017) and was curator of the project exhibitions in Vienna, Hamburg, Heidelberg and Ulaanbaatar. Her main research is in Mongolian studies, material culture, artistic research and the anthropology of art.

Tsetsentsolmon Baatarnaran is a researcher and lecturer at the National University of Mongolia. She was a researcher at the Institute for Social Anthropology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (until 2021) and finished her PhD in 2021. She collaborated within the Nomadic Artefacts project led by Dr. Lang and was holder of an Ernst-Mach scholarship. Tsetsentsolmon received a PhD scholarship from the Wenner-Gren Foundation to do research at the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit of the University of Cambridge. Her research interests include visual anthropology, musicology, the construction of national culture, and socialist and post-socialist cultural transformations.

Du Shiwei is a researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 1997, he received the Ph.D. degree from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the International Association of Mongolian Studies. His main area of expertise is on cross-border ethnic groups in China, Mongolia and Russia.

Erdenebold Lhagvasuren is an archaeologist with recent and current excavation projects in Mongolia and China with a special interest in ethno-archaeology. He is professor at the Mongolian University of Technology.

Lucia Mennel is a cultural anthropologist, ethnographer and poet. Her main research is in post-colonial studies, post-socialist cultural transformations, Cuban studies, and the anthropology of art and music.
Artist
Tatia Skhirtladze is an artist from Tbilisi, Georgia. She teaches video art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Her artistic work oscillates between visual arts and film, with a focus on site-specific as well as long-term mix media concepts. She works for different film production companies in Vienna as camerawoman and editor for documentary films, develops film education modules and conducts workshops on audio-visual artistic practices. Her first feature documentary Glory to the Queen (2021) received the Women in Film Best Pitch Award at the Fast Forward Film festival in Belgrade, Serbia.

Christian Sturminger is an exhibition designer. He has worked in the field of exhibition-making during the last 20 years and works for a great number of museums and cultural institutions in Austria and abroad.
